The Wichita-based senior living provider announced Wednesday that it plans to begin a $5-million expansion on its Owasso facility this summer.
Oxford Glen, located at 11113 E. 103rd St. N., currently offers secure memory care housing and respite care with 24-hour on-site nursing for up to 42 residents.
The expansion is expected to add several assisted living apartments – a first for the Oxford Glen community.
Oxford Senior Living President and CFO Chris Dennis said in a recent press release that the project will allow the community to serve a broader audience and accommodate ongoing growth.
“The new assisted living apartments attached to our existing communities will allow seniors to better age in place,” he said. “We’ve talked to families in these markets who want to be at Oxford – even though they aren’t quite in need of 24-hour memory care yet.”
The two-story, 30,000-square-foot facility is slated to accommodate up to 40 assisted living apartments and feature amenities such as a secure courtyard, lobby with a coffee shop and fireplace living area, full dining room and small library, to name a few.
Oxford Glen Owasso Executive Director Lisa Truett told the Owasso Reporter that she’s excited to see the new expansion take place, which will pave a new path for both staff and residents.
“What I’m excited about is we really highlight activity and engagement in life and memory care, so we’re going to bring that same thing to the assisted living community,” she said. “There will be lots of events and outings and things like that for seniors.”
Oxford Glen also announced its plans to construct a second similar expansion in Grand Prairie, Texas later this year.
